AI receptionists, explained
White label AI receptionists: a UK guide for MSPs, VoIP providers and agencies
White label covers very different arrangements. Here are five of them, the questions to put to any provider before you sign, and what Ringar AI offers UK partners today.
A white label AI receptionist is an AI phone receptionist that a business offers to its own clients as part of its service, so the client deals with the partner and not with a separate supplier. Ringar AI provides a white label AI receptionist for UK partners. This guide explains what the term can mean, what to ask a provider and where we stand today.
Our view: "white label" is not one thing. For an AI receptionist it can mean five different arrangements, and the phrase alone does not tell you which you are being offered. A managed service provider, a VoIP provider or an agency should know which one they are buying before they sign.
The five arrangements the word can cover
- A reseller arrangement. You sell the product under its own name and take a margin.
- A co-branded product. Your name sits beside the provider's.
- A private-label product. Your name replaces the provider's on what the client sees.
- A service the provider sets up for each of your clients. You own the relationship and they do the work.
- A platform you operate yourself. You configure everything, with tools from the provider.
Each carries a different cost, risk and amount of work for you. A provider should say which one it offers.
Why it matters to a partner's clients
Most UK businesses are small. The Department for Business and Trade estimated that 5.64 million of the UK's 5.7 million private sector businesses had 0 to 49 employees at the start of 2025, and 4.3 million had no employees apart from the owners. The people who answer their phones are often the owners.
Callers do not wait. In a June 2026 YouGov survey of 2,046 UK adults commissioned by Answer4u, 37% said they would abandon a call within 60 seconds, and only 6% said they would leave a voicemail rather than wait. Those are stated intentions from a survey run for a call-answering company, but they explain why a partner's clients care how their calls are answered, and why the quality of the service reflects on the partner.
Questions to ask before you sign
- Whose name does the caller hear?
- Whose name does your client see on the dashboard, in emails and on invoices?
- Who owns the phone numbers, and what happens to them if you leave?
- Who bills your client, and what do you pay?
- Who supports your client when a call goes wrong?
- Where is the data kept, and who is responsible for it?
- What does not exist yet?
The last question tells you the most. A provider that is straight about what is missing is one you can plan around.
Where Ringar AI stands today
We provide a white label AI receptionist service for UK MSPs, VoIP providers and agencies. Each client's calls are answered in that client's own business name, so callers do not hear Ringar AI's name. Branding, billing and support are agreed with each partner. It is a managed service and not a self-serve platform, and partner pricing is on request.
We should also be plain about what is missing. There is no partner portal and no self-serve branding set-up yet. Everything is arranged with each partner directly.
What a partner's client gets is what any Ringar AI customer gets today:
- The call is answered in the business's own name, using what the business has told it and its website.
- The caller's name, number and what they need are taken.
- Where a calendar is connected, appointments are booked inside the opening hours the business has saved.
- A callback can be arranged for a time that suits the caller.
- Every call is written up in the dashboard with a transcript and outcome, and an email follows when a call ends with a booking, a message or a call back to make.
What would change our view
We would change this view if partners told us the five arrangements are not that different in practice. If that is your experience, we would like to hear it.
