Ringar AI vs Ringmere: how two UK AI receptionists compare

Ringmere is a fair UK business to compare any AI receptionist against, and this piece treats it that way. Every figure below comes from the two companies' own published pages, read on 28 September 2026. Where the plans are not directly comparable, this article says so plainly rather than forcing a match. Prices change, so check both sites before deciding.

The short version

Both companies are UK businesses billing in pounds. Ringmere is operated by Peoplely Ltd, registered in England and Wales under company number 16386277, with a registered office at 71-75 Shelton Street, London, WC2H 9JQ. Ringmere bundles WhatsApp and SMS chat with calls and includes a UK local number on every plan. Ringar AI is phone-first, with pricing built around call minutes. Neither of those is a criticism. They are different shapes of product, and the shape matters as much as any single number.

One difference matters before the numbers are read closely. Ringmere's Growth and Pro allowances are shared across calls and chat. Ringar AI's allowances are call minutes. The two are not like-for-like, and no honest comparison can pretend otherwise.

Where the two plans line up most closely

Entry against Starter. Ringar AI Entry is £60 a month for 500 minutes. Ringmere Starter is £49 a month for 150 call minutes. Ringar AI costs £11 more each month and includes 350 more minutes. On the published figures, which works out at roughly 12p a minute for Entry against roughly 33p a minute for Starter.

Lite against Growth. Ringar AI Lite is £90 a month for 900 minutes. Ringmere Growth is £99 a month for 240 minutes shared across calls and chat. Ringar AI costs £9 less and includes 660 more minutes. Roughly 10p a minute against roughly 41p, arithmetic on the published figures only, with the caveat that Growth's minutes also cover chat.

Pro against Pro. Ringar AI Pro is £320 a month for 4,000 minutes. Ringmere Pro is £249 a month for 700 minutes shared across calls and chat. Ringar AI costs £71 more and includes 3,300 more minutes. Roughly 8p a minute against roughly 36p, again arithmetic on published figures, and again with chat covered by Ringmere's allowance.

One more difference: Ringmere publishes an overage rate of £0.25 a minute, £0.20 on Pro, and a spending safety ceiling. Ringar AI publishes the effective cost per included minute on each plan (£0.12, £0.10 and £0.08) and says it will talk to you rather than surprise you when the allowance runs out, so the two are not the same kind of figure.

Where Ringmere is genuinely stronger

• Published overage and spend cap. Ringmere tells a buyer what happens when the minutes run out and how to cap the spend. That is useful information for a small business watching costs.
• A phone number on every plan. Both include a UK number on every plan. Ringmere's is a local number and it offers an 0800 option on Pro. Ringar AI includes one number on Entry and Lite and three on Pro, with additional numbers at £5 a month each.
• WhatsApp and SMS. Ringmere publishes two-way WhatsApp AI chat and SMS reminders from its Growth plan.
• Trial and cancellation. Ringmere publishes a 14-day free trial and cancel-anytime terms. Ringar AI's trial is a UK phone number and 50 minutes to try the system. Its plans are monthly: you can cancel at any time and the paid-for month runs to its end, with payments for that month not refunded.

Where the numbers favour Ringar AI

• Set up in minutes. Answer a few questions about your business during sign-up and you get a UK phone number that already knows your business and can answer callers' questions straight away.
• Call minutes. Ringar AI includes 350 more minutes at entry, 660 more at mid and 3,300 more at the top, based on the published allowances.
• The mid-tier headline price. £90 a month against £99 a month.
• The effective cost per included minute. Roughly 12p, 10p and 8p against roughly 33p, 41p and 36p, as arithmetic on the published numbers. The caveat stands: Ringmere's mid and top allowances also cover chat.

Ringmere's lower headline price at entry and top tiers looks attractive until it's read as a rate: on the published figures, Ringar AI's cost per included minute is roughly a third of Ringmere's at every tier, and the gap holds even once Ringmere's shared calls-and-chat allowance is accounted for. WhatsApp and SMS chat are useful if a business genuinely needs them; a business whose priority is calls answered properly and cheaply, with hundreds more minutes in the same plan, gets more from Ringar AI.

What neither company's site tells you

Ringmere's Agency & Enterprise tier is custom, with no published figures. Ringar AI's trial is a UK phone number and 50 minutes to try the system, its plans are monthly, and each plan shows a concurrent-call figure. If any of them matter to the business, ask both companies directly and get the answer in writing.
