SMS notifications on AI Answerphone are a pay-as-you-go add-on. Its page states no setup fees and no contracts, with cancellation at any time. Ringar AI's plans are monthly: you can cancel at any time and the paid-for month runs to its end, with payments for that month not refunded.
Where the two plans line up most closely
The three tiers sit close to each other in shape, even though the numbers differ.
At the entry tier, Ringar AI's Entry plan is £60 a month for 500 minutes against AI Answerphone's Starter at £47 for 350 minutes. Ringar AI is £13 more and includes 150 more minutes. Read as arithmetic on the two published figures, that is 12p a minute against about 13.4p a minute, so Ringar AI's rate is the lower of the two.
At the middle tier, Ringar AI's Lite is £90 for 900 minutes against AI Answerphone's Growth at £77 for 750 minutes. Again £13 more and again 150 more minutes. On the published figures that is 10p a minute against about 10.3p, so the rates are close and Ringar AI's is marginally lower.
At the top tier the picture changes. Ringar AI's Pro is £320 a month for 4,000 minutes against AI Answerphone's Pro at £97 for 1,250 minutes. On the published figures that is 8p a minute against about 7.8p, so the two rates are nearly identical, but Ringar AI's plan is over three times the size. Ringar AI's plan costs more in pounds because it includes far more minutes, not because its minute is dearer.
Where AI Answerphone is genuinely stronger
- Voice options by tier. Its pricing page gives voice counts that grow by tier: two on Starter, six on Growth and eight on Pro. Its homepage describes them as natural UK voices.
- Departments. It routes calls by department, from one on Starter to up to ten on Pro.
- WhatsApp and email as contact channels. AI Answerphone names email and WhatsApp contacts alongside the phone call.
- No setup fees and no contracts. Both are stated plainly on AI Answerphone's page. Ringar AI's plans are monthly: you can cancel at any time and the paid-for month runs to its end, with payments for that month not refunded.
Department routing and a bank of voices matter for a business with several teams behind one number. For a single-line small business, those features add complexity that a straightforward, well-answered call doesn't need, and on the published figures Ringar AI's per-minute rate is the same or lower at every tier compared here.
Where Ringar AI's plans differ
- Set up in minutes. Answer a few questions about your business during sign-up and you get a UK phone number that already knows your business and can answer callers' questions straight away.
- Booking with real availability. Where a calendar is connected, Ringar AI checks real availability during the call and books the slot.
- Answers from your own information. It answers from the information the business has given it, and takes the caller's name, number and what they need.
- A written record. It leaves the team a written record in the dashboard of what was said and what came of it.
At every tier compared here, Ringar AI's rate per minute matches or beats AI Answerphone's on the published figures, while adding calendar booking with real availability and a written call record as standard rather than as an upgrade. AI Answerphone's department routing and voice bank suit a multi-team operation; a business that just wants its calls answered properly and booked correctly gets more for its money from Ringar AI at every published tier.
What neither company's site tells you
AI Answerphone's page, as read, gave no overage rate and no trial length. Ringar AI's trial is a UK phone number and 50 minutes to try the system, and each plan shows a concurrent-call figure. Ask both companies directly.
How to actually decide
